Saturday, October 1, 2011 – Wow it’s almost the end of the month and I’ve been meaning to post for quite some time.  So what I’ve been doing recently is looking into outreach programs in my community and something I feel that I can really get behind is the Surfrider Foundation.  Their global page can be found here and the local south bay chapter page can be found here.  Rise Above Plastics or RAP’s Mission is “To reduce the impacts of plastics in the marine environment by raising awareness about the dangers of plastic pollution and by advocating for a reduction of single-use plastics and the recycling of all plastics.”  Our last beach cleanup which was at the PV Cove or Bluff Cove was a joint effort with Cliff Bars and Rusty to come up with a creative composition with the found items.  This is what I came up with.

So I might have cheated a bit since I have some photoshop knowledge but nowhere was it stated that I couldn’t do something like this.  To me it’s amazing and saddening how much trash gets washed up on our beaches and I have taken it upon myself to do as much as I can.  I hope that you will join me in the next beach cleanup and I will definitely be sending the event invite via facebook.  Take care till then 🙂
