Today I wasn’t sure how I’d be feeling. I woke up at 5 with everyone else and for the most part I felt ok. I had some strength back, my appetite was returning, however I had a pretty bad cough and my stomach wasn’t cooperating. I decided that I would try and tough it out and packed in preparation to go to Kruger. Mike picked us up and drove us for three and a half hours to a meeting point where Ute and Senelda picked us up. We had an additional two or so hours to go but then we were inside the park and ready to start looking for the big five which consist of leopards, lions, water buffalo, rhinoceros, and elephants.

The first day was amazing!! We saw four out of the big five and the only animal we hadn’t see was the leopard. We were told that it would be difficult to see this animal since it sleeps during the day but we were hopeful. At the end of the day we were going to stay in the park and camp. When we arrived at the site (I think it was Sarah) said look at this car. All I saw was a fender that looked like an animal had bumped into it. It wasn’t until I looked up that I saw the windshield. Guess someone got too close..

Oh and btw this is what the South Africans consider camping…
