I woke up around 7:30 and tried to go back to sleep but I couldn’t. Today was actually a sunny day which was really nice! I went downstairs, had some coffee, then suited up and went out. I knew today was going to be a little bigger and it was. I started out at Diamante, and got swept so far down the point I was much further than I had been the previous days. One wave came to me that was about 2.5 meters tall and at the last minute I decided to cut out. I wasn’t sure if I’d get pitched over the falls or what would happen. In any event a bigger outside set came and swept me up. It was pretty violent and I could feel myself getting tossed around. I came up for air and dredded the next set which was right about to come. I took a deep breath, went under, and got dragged then tumbled. The mistake I made was opening my eyes to see where I was. All I saw was pitch black which scared me even more since I was worried when I’d be able to make it up for my next breath. Luckily I made it to the surface not much later but another set was coming and I wasn’t sure if I could withstand another beating like that. Luckily the set wasn’t as big as I thought it was and the wave went by me without much issue. I thought I would count my blessings so I went in not catching anything for the day. All I could think of was how scary that was and made me wonder about surfing tomorrow.

I went back to the camp, grabbed some coffee, and cleaned up my blog posts until the internet and power cut out. At about 11:40 or 12ish I started to get hungry so I went to Curcuma and had Ulte Al Curry which is the root of the chilean seaweed. It is also called cochayuyo. The texture and flavoring was interesting and I was glad that I tried something new despite wanting to get the eggplant. I also was able to speak to the owner and tell him that I really enjoyed his food which he was happy about. Although all the plates look the same they most definitely taste different.

I went back to the camp and chilled and didn’t do much for the rest of the day which has been pretty typical of most of the days I’ve been here. I’ll watch some netflix and then go to sleep around 10:30pm. I really appreciate the time I have to decompress before I start this grueling summer intersession and next year of schooling that is coming up.
