On the second half of my journey going from Houston to Santiago I found a pair of headphones on the ground. I picked them up and put them on a cart, which granted I could have asked if that was ok to do but the stewardess immediately picked them up and threw them on the ground. I didn’t think that I had done anything wrong but that kind of pissed me off. Guess I wasn’t expecting that kind of reaction. Anyway I brushed it off thinking that maybe she had a bad day and not to take it personal.

At breakfast I had another situation. This time I was trying to explain that the person sitting next to me had to use the restroom and if the stewardess could come back and bring us our meals that would work better. Apparently she wasn’t understanding this and said that she didn’t know what I wanted. At this point I was beginning to wonder if it was me or what was going on. Thankfully we made it to our destination without much issue.

After clearing immigration I found that I couldn’t pull money out of the atm so I was glad that I pulled at least a little cash out. I went to the money changer and got 65,010 CLP for $100 with the exchange rate at 660.

I must have looked like a tourist because there was a taxi guy on me right away. He was trying to get me to pay 18000 CLP for a private taxi but I told him no. He lowered his price to 15000 CLP and I told him that I would think about it. I was going to try and do an Uber but it wasn’t clear what the price was so I decided to go with the first guy.

When I got to my destination it wasn’t clear where to go. I walked around for a bit until I asked the right question which was “where is the transsantin station?” If I had asked that at the beginning I would have saved myself at least 10 minutes.

After 3.5 hours I got to my destination which was the terminal in Pichilemu. I began walking thinking that I could make it to the surf camp in no time. About 5km later I was done with walking and I tried to take a taxi. Unfortunately he was full and from what I gathered he was going to drop off his guests and come back and pick me up. Problem was I was a little sweaty from walking, I was sitting in the shade, and I was getting cold. After about 7-10 minutes I decided that maybe I should just walk the rest of the way as it wasn’t much further…the story of the day.

I got to my destination around 5pm and I wanted to surf but decided to just take it easy. It was easily 4 meters, maybe more. It was a bit scary and I wasn’t sure how to enter. I saw two possible entry points but I never saw anyone getting in.

This is what the surf break looks like

Guess I’ll see what it’s like tomorrow!
