Monday, April 16, 2012 – Welcome to the start of another great week and the end of my spring break!! Recently I have been having problems with the way my galleries are displaying. When hovering over galleries and going to either 2011 US Open of Surfing, 2010 US Open of Surfing, or 2011 Bali, Indonesia what would happen is that you would see the pictures for a split second then no pictures would show. Typically what happens is there is a slideshow that starts for all the photos in that gallery. Drew, from Photocrati Support, was very helpful in diagnosing my problem and giving me advice on how to fix it. What it finally ended up being was an issue with my content delivery network or CDN cloudflare. He said “the specific CDN you’re using isn’t compatible with the code. It was changing mime types of our files, which is ultimately very very bad.” not that I fully understand what that means but all I know is that it works and that makes me happy. So FYI if you are using a photocrati theme and cloudflare your galleries won’t display properly.
In other photography related news I briefly talked about Luminosity Masks last Friday. I read this article from Tony Kuyper’s website here and found the information to be very helpful and for the most part written well. It prompted me to create the actions he mentioned in his article (which I believe I did) and while I have done some testing on them I am not sure if they are working as expected. I might try and send him my actions and see if he will look over them but not sure if he will as he sells them for $20…I will do some further testing and post my results hopefully by the end of the week.
