I woke up around 2:45am, took a shower and packed my remaining things. The driver came and took me to his taxi then we departed for the airport. It took a lot longer to get to the airport than I anticipated. I wasn’t really looking at the clock but it felt like 30-40 minutes. I checked in and we took off at 5am for Casablanca.

The flight was only about 45-50 minutes so we arrived in Casablanca around 5:50am or 6. I can’t remember. What I do remember is that the layover was 8hr and 55min so we were supposed to be taking off at 2:55pm. When we hadn’t boarded the airplane at 2:15pm (I think it was) I started to get a little nervous. At about 3pm we were told that we would know more at 4pm. Well…4pm rolled by and nothing. 4:15pm came and went and finally we were told that they needed a couple of more hours and that we should be boarding around 8pm. A little while after the announcement a couple trays of food and drinks were brought over to the ticket counter area. Then what looked like a mob of people rushed over to get their fill. In the interim I had walked to get a sandwich so I didn’t really feel the need for more food (doesn’t sound like me does it πŸ™‚ That was my third meal there that day…I think it was around 9ish that we boarded the plane and we finally started to take off around 10:10pm…That put the layover at 16 hours + I think that was the longest layover I have ever had.

Regardless I was happy that we were moving and making progress towards home!! About four hours into the trip I started to feel a bit funky. I wasn’t sure if it was all the sitting or what. I got up and used the bathroom and didn’t think much of it. I sat back down, burped, and then started feeling nauseous. I thought I could hold it back but then I thought what the hell it won’t be that bad. Well the rest of the flight I was sick.

When we got to JFK it was 2:30am in the morning and we had definitely missed our flight. I spoke with an attendant and she told me that we were going to be put up in a hotel for the evening and to come back in the morning for our flight. I was under the impression that we were supposed to come back around 8:39am. Well I found out that was the time our flight took off…Mind you I was sick in the morning as well when I woke up, had a terrible headache, and my body was killing me. I needed the extra sleep and felt better for it.

When I got to the ticket booth they told me that I would have to call Royal Air Maroc or pay for my ticket. At this point I was almost going to pay since I felt so horrible but I decided to call their customer service line. I was on the phone for what felt like 30 minutes and I got everything straightened out. Or at least I thought so. The JetBlue agent told me that I would have to call Royal Air Maroc back but after about 30 minutes with her she got me my ticket and I thought she was going to upgrade me but she put me in the back near the restroom which is what I asked for. I thanked her profusely and went upstairs to look for my gate.

In my stupor I almost took the train to another part of the terminal. Good thing I asked directions…I had to backtrack and finally made it close to my gate. Before I got there I spotted a Jamba Juice and thought perfect this should be pretty easy to digest and I can get some medication. So I got a Caribbean Passion and I got some Aleve and Excedrin for my headache. I had my juice and took my medication just before getting on the plane. I can’t tell you how much this helped with my back on this leg of the flight. Honestly it felt like a lifesaver.

The flight wasn’t bad and I was already starting to feel better. This time I had to use the restroom countless time to blow my nose. Something I was much more ok with πŸ™‚ I landed around 3 or 3:30pm, caught the super shuttle home, and eventually made it home around 5pm. You have no idea how happy I was to be home.
