I tried to get up later than usual but it ended up that I got up around 7am. I didn’t want to fuss around with looking for a breakfast place so I ate at the hotel. Man it was expensive!! It was around $28 US. I didn’t really eat that much so I felt like it wasn’t worth the money. Oh well.

I went back to the room, cleaned up, and packed the remainder of my items. I checked out and left the hotel around 10am and went to the train station. This time I was better versed at paying which I did in cash and remembered to pay attention to what stop I was. The good thing was that there were not that many stops and I was second from last. I used that information along with the travel time so I was more prepared on when to exit the train at the Gare 🙂

We departed around 11:15am and arrived around 2:35pm. I was looking for my driver as I had arranged for one to pick me up and I couldn’t find him. I walked around for about 40 minutes then decided to take a cab. Good thing I did because when I checked in I had mistakenly told them the wrong time. Doh!

I was greeted at Riad Laaroussa and asked what I would like to drink. I had an espresso as I hadn’t had coffee since earlier. It was really strong the way I like it!! I just happened to be looking around and I noticed that Liem that I met at the surf camp earlier in the week was sitting there. I greeted him and he said that his wife was getting a massage. We talked for a short while and when she came out I got to meet her. I asked what they were doing for dinner and it sounded like they were doing a date dinner for the two of them which was great!! I connected with him on Facebook and we said our goodbye’s.

By that time my room was ready. I had originally booked the little brown room but was upgraded to the red room which was amazing and I will definitely post pictures of that in my recap!! It had a large room with a queen bed, two chairs and a table, two small closets, and a pretty big wash room with shower. Malik who had taken me to my room suggested that I go to Chez Rachid. He gave me some history of he place so I decided to go. I mapped it and it seemed pretty easy to get there. It was close to the Blue Gate which I had come through earlier. I walked and wasn’t sure but I think I found it. If I remember I think the name was different but from his description it seemed like the right place. I had a chicken tagine which had potatoes, carrots, chicken, and some other vegetable I wasn’t sure of but it was salty and good!! For dessert I had a noos noos and headed back towards the Riad.

My plan was to start from the Riad and work my way around so I didn’t get lost. I back tracked to the Riad then went to the road that was supposedly bigger that would take me to the square. I never found the square but I had a good walk. I decided to go back to the Riad and chill for the rest of the night as the next day was going to be the Tour of Meknes which included Volubilis which I was really looking forward to.
