They say that necessity is the mother of invention. Well I’ll tell you when you go to places that don’t have good wifi coverage what do you do? Well I began my journey with a RetroPie and that allowed my friend and I to play games after we surfed and any downtime we had in Chicama. What a life saver!!
I started thinking that it might be a good idea to use the same hardware I currently have and build a Kodi media center.
I downloaded OSMC, wrote it to the microsd card, booted it up, and allowed the system to configure the free space. I opted for a 64GB card which is pretty big for the OS but I also wanted to see if I could put media on the same card. From what I read it is not recommended so I put one file on there to see what happens when there’s a software update. My guess is the file will remain so in theory I could start loading more media.
Instead I purchased a 128GB USB 3.0 drive and ripped some dvd’s and cd’s I have and put them on the drive. It is really easy to navigate and play media and I can even use my smartphone which is really slick! I am thinking that I might need to buy a separate controller but I am going to wait for that.
In the meantime I have been looking for cases to print since we have a 3d printer at the school I work at and I chose this case because I can use a 40mm fan…more things I need to buy 🙂 In the next post I will be showing the before and after of the case.
