Today we woke up around 5:30am and had the same buffet style breakfast at 7:30am. We chilled for close to an hour then went downstairs to meet with the rest of our group.

We left our hotel and went to the Marriott to picked up a German couple. The gentleman was 86 years old and his wife was 80!! I was really impressed because they could keep up with the group without us having to wait for them!!

Our day began with the city tour of Amman. We drove around and saw a large coliseum and we stopped at a scenic spot where I was able to take an awesome pano. After that we went to this place that had kanafah. This is “a Levantine cheese pastry soaked in sweet, sugar-based syrup, typical of the regions belonging to the former Ottoman Empire”. The following is a picture of what I ate and how it was prepared.

Once we finished our snack we headed back to the hotel for a short bathroom break then we were off to Jerash.

We arrived at Jerash and walked through a small covered souk before we hit the pathway leading to the ruins. I took some pictures and fell a little behind little realizing that we had a tour guide and that I was holding everyone up…

The guided tour of Jerash was informative. One take away fact that I remember is that this was one of the best preserved roman ruins. While I have no proof of this I could tell the overall structures were in pretty good shape in contrast to Volubilis in Morocco.

After Jerash we headed back to the hotel and we had the option of getting lunch on our own. Pat wanted to chill so I went out in search of food and provisions. Sadly enough I couldn’t find anything authentic so I ended up having subway…

The supermarket (Onyx) on the other hand was pretty awesome and I got two waters, two sodas, and some Cheetos for Pat.

That night we had dinner at the hotel again as it was included. By this point I was getting really tired of the food…

We called it a night and prepped for the long day ahead which was going to be madaba, mt nebo, and shawback castle.
