Today was another early day. We woke up at 4:40am so we could leave around 5. We were told Mizata was an hour and twenty minutes away but it took about 50 minutes to get there.

Once we got there we took a look and decided to walk a little south towards what looked like a cove. The paddle out wasn’t too bad. It just required a little timing and luck. Emilio and I were able to get out pretty easy but it seemed like Pat and Joe were struggling a bit. Personally I couldn’t imagine trying to paddle a longboard out especially when you can’t duck dive…And that is one of the primary reasons I shortboard ?

Like most breaks it takes a little getting used to. Where to sit, how the sets were shifting, etc. I caught one really memorable wave. I was able to do a cutback, hit the whitewater, pump a little for speed, and catch the reform on the inside. It felt really good!!

A lot of the other waves I caught were ok. The drop going right was really steep and I never felt that I adjusted for that properly. Oh well live and learn.

After getting out I was just going to hydrate with water but Emilio was eating so I decided to have a Gatorade. Man that was refreshing!!

We went back to the camp and had breakfast which for me was a breakfast quesadilla. Take a look.

After that we relaxed for about 10 minutes then went for a walk around town. We went into some local shops then walked the pier which was an assortment of seafood vendors. I didn’t get a picture of the vendors but take a look at how they get the boats in and out of the water. I was fascinated by this!!

By this time it was getting pretty hot so we decided to retreat to a/c and chill in the hotel. I went to Joe and Pat’s room because the wifi near my room was out. Oh take a look at the hotel. I meant to take a picture on the first day but never got around to it.

This was a three story complex with rooms on the first and second floors and the kitchen/bar was on the third floor.

We had some lunch and we were going to surf at 4 but I was getting stir crazy around 3 and asked the boys if they wanted to go now. I think everyone was into it so we left around 3:15 or so and went to La Bocana.

It was kinda windy and there were about 15-20 people out but we decided to go out anyway. The main peak was crowded and it was difficult trying to catch a wave going right. So much so that I decided to find a peak further down. I didn’t catch much but at least I didn’t have to fight for waves!! Joe on the other hand said that going left was good for him and that the people he was surfing with weren’t as much an issue. Pat got scraped up a bit on the rocks and had a pretty good size cherry above his left knee (I think). Oh and I almost forgot that I took fin to the chest after wiping out kinda funky.

When we got back to the hotel we chilled at the pool for a bit then had our last supper which was the rice with seafood. I was going back and forth between the rice and pasta. Man it was good to have so many options!!

After dinner I chilled with Joe and Pat in their room and watched the olympics till about 9.
