Saturday evening before I took off I thought we would be able to see Weezer (at least a little bit) before I had to leave for the airport. That was a gross miscalculation. The concert was supposed to start at 7pm so I thought by 7:30 maybe 7:40 the concert would have started. It wasn’t until 8:17 when the concert started.

During the time Panic at the Disco was playing I was trying to think when we should leave and all I could think about was how bad I felt. I was trying to think of solutions so Christine could stay there and I had come up with one…drive Christine’s car to the lot, pay for parking, take a picture of where I parked and text her, meet up with her and give her the keys, then uber to the airport. She didn’t want to split up so we decided to leave together. I told her that I would pay for her ticket but she came up with a better solution and said that she would look for another concert for us to go to which I would pay for 🙂

We left around 9:11 or so and started walking back to the car. I guess one good song they played was a cover of a queen song, bohemian rhapsody which was ok. We went to 7 Eleven, grabbed a drink, and headed to the airport.

Once I got to the airport there was a huge line for Avianca. I was half hoping that it was for another airline but I knew it was for my airline. While waiting in line a nice lady asked me if this was the line for Avianca and I said si. She then asked me Donde va and at first I didn’t understand what she was asking me but I took a second and I told her I was going to El Salvador. With my limited Spanish I tried to tell her I was going surfing and she said there were muchos playas to which I smiled 🙂

Strangely enough the line didn’t take that long maybe because I had oversize luggage. They put me in a different line and I was able to get through in about 30 or 40 minutes. Not bad considering the line was out the door!! Check in seemed to go pretty smoothly however I found out that I needed to pay $125 for my surfboards not $60 like the website said. Maybe I missed the fine print but I had to check in online and mobile wasn’t working. I had thought about trying my computer but opted for a nap and felt lazy afterwards. Hope I can use a computer to check in for the way home…

The flight was supposed to take off at 1:25am and we took off almost an hour later due to some of the elder folks needing a little more time to board. I arrived maybe 40 minutes later than expected but I was glad to be at my destination. I am starting to realize as I get older that these longer flights are really difficult. Guess I have quality problems today 🙂

Luckily for me Emilio saw me because I was looking at the signs and didn’t see anyone. He took me to the Adventure Surf Travel house in La Libertad and I checked in and took a couple of naps. Check out some of the cool artwork at this place!!

and this is my room

At about 3:30 we surfed a little north of the hotel and it was fun. The water was really warm…almost too warm

For dinner I had ceviche mixto and shrimp egg rolls which I don’t think I took a picture of. Take a look at the ceviche!!

It was really good and honestly I shouldn’t have ordered the egg rolls but I’m happy I did.

I came back to the room, took a shower, read for maybe 20 minutes, then I was out at 7:40pm…that’s early even for me 🙂 It was a good first day!!
