Friday, November 16, 2012 – Good Morning!! And welcome to the end of another great week.  So it’s been a while since I posted last and from what I checked it’s been over a month!!  I assure you that I have been shooting and learning but my focus has been on Chromatic Abberation or CA.  Wikipedia defines CA as “chromatic differences of the distances of intersection, of magnifications, and of monochromatic aberrations.”  What this means is that the ccd in my digital camera is unable to discern and record the light that is entering my lens properly.  What this leads to is color fringing on the edges of bushes, statues, etc.  I think you get it.  Here is a visual example so you can see for yourself.  The one on the left has heavy CA and the one on the right has reduced CA.

As you can see it’s only a reduction.  *Sigh*  I wish it could do a little better job but I’m pretty sure that would have to come from the camera and lens.  Since I only have Photoshop CS5 my software options are limited as well but at least it’s something.  In CS6 I believe that Adobe’s Raw Converter 7.1 and above has the option of removing CA in the Lens Correction section which is pretty cool.  Maybe its time for an upgrade…hint hint Christmas is coming up!!  In any event this is my finished project of the Korean Friendship Bell.  Take a look and have a great day!!
